So... the front passenger door lock isn't quite working as it should.

When the car gets locked, the door locks perfectly. When the car is unlocked, the lock does not come all the way up. It does move up slightly, but doesn't unlock fully.

I then have to lean over and pull the lock all the way up so the door can open.

While we're driving around for the day, the lock slowly works its way back down (only slightly though), and the door won't open again unless the lock is pulled up. It doesn't work its way right down to the bottom - just goes down slightly so the door won't open again.

So... do I need a new lock? New spring? What's up with it??

Thanks in advance!

i found these instructions earlier... but it looks like that's for the latch itself, not the lock, if you know what I mean.

For example, if my door is properly unlocked, if I pull on the inside or outside handle they both open the door and both handles go back in by themselves. I don't have to push the handles back in.

The lock, however, when the car is unlocked does not go all the way up, so I either have to use my key to push it up or pull it up from the inside.

Are these instructions definitly for the lock spring, not the opening handles??

Also, i've just bought these: Landrover Discovery door lock spring 3 door set | eBay (I hope they are the right part to make the lock go up... cos the door handles spring back in just fine)

Plenty of wd around the latch mech. I regularly do mine as I off road a bit and the inside of the door gets wet. The locks go funny every couple of months unless I maintain them

Well... what a cock-up today has been! I've spent 3 hours working on it and got nowhere!

I don't have a 40 torx bit, so had to drive to the local garage to borrow one (very friendly garage!). I then rounded off the torx bolt holding the window frame in because it was just so damn tight! I then had to resort to a hammer and chisel to undo the bolt (which it turns out was basically held in place by rust!).

So... 2 hours had now passed and it was 15:00 (I shouldn't have started so late).

I then started disassembling the insides of the door, but simply could not get the clips off the ends of the rods. Tried it by hand, by screwdriver, pliers, etc, etc... just cannot get the damn things off. It was now 16:00 - getting cold and dark, so decided to give up and just book it into the garage :-(

I don't like to give up, but had no choice today, and given the fact that I simply cannot get the clips off the rods I have no choice but to book it into the garage and let them tackle it!

Not ideal, but I have no choice!

So... final question (hopefully)... does anyone know the part number of the torx bolts holding the window frame in? I can just buy new ones then for when it's booked into the garage!
