Hi has anyone on here lined the front cab section of a 90 defender that hasn't got an headliner in at all? I am in the process of converting my td5 pick up to an hardtop but have no headliner for the cab< the rear looks easy to do but just wondered if there was a way of doing the front or if anyones done this job?

cheers lee

I replaced all the headlining in my 110 CSW. It was not difficult at all.

I used the Exmore trim headlining. Make sure you buy a pack of the plastic trim studs at the same time.

Mostly the front headlining is held in by handholds, sun visor, mirror and interior light. A few studs then go into the back edge into the roof frame. A few more studs here and there along screen top and above the doors. Studs just tap in. Easy to drill if holes not present.

The new headlining really brightened an ageing interior. If you have none at all right now then you may need sunglasses :)

get a secondhand one and recover it in veltrim i have done mine and the rear roof and the rear side panels in it.

Anyone else on here done anything like this please? and are second hand headliners hard to come by? cant see many advertised.

I did. Got a rear lining off here for £20 (most of it was shipping) was tatty but ripped the crapp lr covering off and recovered with fake alcantara.

Looks decent, few creases from the headlining underside but ok.

If you dont mind spending a bit more you can get solid fibreglass ones off ebay which are meant to be good.

I was thinking of doing what you've done but they seem hard to find and when you do find them there top wack!

I lined the roof of my truck cab with some sound deadening felt bought from a specialists.

Its very dense - looks very good - almost a tight twill weave appearance (took a while to cut it all perfectly) and definitely feels 'cosier' than original headlining.

Cost me just shy of £40 for the stuff.

I think all the sound insulation specialists sell it - forget its exact name.

Will try to find invoice.

PS - got it in black and painted/dyed sun visors and other grey trim to match - looks very smart.

Just attached with some 3M spray adhesive after roughing up metal roof on inside. Have to say it is stuck rock solid.

Did you do the cab area from scratch with the stuff your on about? I mean did you do the cab area without an headliner at all? Have you any pics plz?
