Hi,

Currently rebuilding front axle of my 2a - Needs new swivels etc and so far so good. One interesting thing is that we seem to have 20 spline at the dif and 24 at the hub!
Question - when doing up the half shaft castleated nut how tight should it be? Upon taking to bits it had around 1-2mm of end float - is this normal??

Thanks in advance

*10 spine - sorry

Need to check I think so, I guess this nut must preload the half shaft bearings - or am I missing something - thanks by the way

15-20lbf.ft. Nothing to with preloading any bearings. The only bearing remotely involved with the halfshafts is a roller bearing. Preload generally applies to taper bearings eg the wheel bearings. Get hold of good manual,it will help you allot.
