front fog light switch

Hiya all, I was wondering if some one could shed some light on my question, today I fitted a set of "fog" lights(genuine landy/bought off ebay), it was the complete kit(brand new never been used), on my '02 Td4 ES, anyway all went well and they really look the part now there on,but when i came to fit the fog switch(on the speedo housing/above the rear fog switch), I noticed the switch is a lighter shade of grey compared to the rear fog switch:confused:

now is that just the way it is, or was there a darker coloured switch for later freelanders etc......,

other than that im chuffed, they really suit the front end:D

I had the same problem, the fog light kit is for a pre 2001 car.
Post '01 kits have a switch panel with 3 blanks and a switch that fit in the coin tray under the mirror switch.
I got a switch YUG000320LNF, front fog-ash grey, and fit it in place of the blank under the radio, I think I had to file the guides off the plug so it fit the switch.

thanks for the replys lads, I had a feeling what the answer was gonna be, its just that it looks so much neater alongside the rear fog switch, but I cant leave it looking the wrong shade of grey, so looks like its a phone call to the stealer!

incidently, Ive read a few posts on here about cruise control, and when i removed the blanking switch that ive used for the fog switch, the plug was there for the cruise control, but i suppose thats another story all on its own:doh:

You've got the earlier type switch (in 'Heather') VVN100000 -

and want to swap it for the later type switch (in 'Ash Grey') YUG000320LNF -

(switch pictured upside-down  )

To save having to modify the Connector plug, you can just swap the Switch Caps over.

They unclip from the switch plunger very easily - I use a small flat screwdriver the gently lift the tabs.

You can clearly see the tabs in the pictures above.

thats the colour "heather" of the switch ive got,but that aint the switch ive got:doh:, the switch ive got is the same as the rear fog switch, so if i get the later switch in "ash grey" to go either under the radio or above the fuse box( same as your pic paul), are you saying the plug on the loom will be difrent aswel???????

You just need to file a bit of plastic off to get the connector to fit, the wiring and pins are correct.

There are four different coloured connectors for these range of switches - White, Black, Blue and Green.

The different colours have different keyways, to prevent mis-connection.

As Longdong has said, you can file down (or trim with a sharp knife) the keyways, so that any colour connector will fit any switch.

I was suggesting that it was even easier to to unclip the switch cap from your existing switch and replace it with the switch cap from YUG000320LNF.
