Luvvly jubbly,

Job done, same as above, nice and easy, except for the top bolt behind the bonnet latch, a PITA to get started.

But all is good now, fan £13, a nice cheap fix.

Cheers MJI.

Think laterally, it is actually easy, unbolt the right side end (left hand as you look at it) and drop it down!

MJI, who got your knickers in a twist? LOL.

It is done, but actually getting the bolt started to tighten it back up when it is behind the bonnet latch with my big digits was a PITA.

Cheers

Noone, I just thought you struggled without dropping the bar down

The only problem of those cheap fans is that they are not up to the job(power and RPM wise) and the dual pressure switch cuts the compressor as the pressure in the system exceeds the admitted limit, you can't compare what a 80W fan and a 250W one can do, the original one is a high performance high amp fan with 4000 m3/h air flow while those cheap ones have max 1000 ... it's almost useless there

The original fan on mine looked like it had been buggered for a number of years... it was seized solid and rusted straight through the casing...
The throughput of that fan was zero CFM (zero m3/hr)

The one I fitted is rated at 1600 CFM (2720 m3/hr) which I admit is less than 4000 m3/hr but significantly better than nowt.. :)

Just found today that both the cooling booster fans on my '97 Disco 1 have carked it and have likewise zero throughput, I have removed them both which gives a much clearer air path through to the condenser/radiator, also found that sometime in the past the plastic fan blades have come into contact with the fins on the condenser behind the right hand side fan. I will have to see if I can fit at least one replacement electric fan, even one from some other make of modern car, I suppose every little amount of boosted cooling will help. Just about to embark upon a two week 4wheel drive trip into the bush and the good lady insists that the A/C is working at all times, the engine driven fan seems to handle temp ok when on a main road run, I only found that the electric fans were not on because of the absence of noise from the front of the vehicle.
