noticed it last week, left it then, however, it was at it again today, on cornering to the right at speed, a grumbling noise from the front end.

soo, got home, broke out the jack, jacked it up, virtually no play in the wheel (there is the tiniest perceivable amount, but its been alot worse) and the wheel rotates smoothly and quietly.
climbed under with a pry bar, everything seems hunky dory under there.

any ideas, or is it just me throwing it into corners harder and the tyres complaining, only seems to do it going right tho...

thats what i did, thinking the weight will go onto it, and cause the noise.
All "seems" fine, unless its just not bad enough to not show unless under high load.

For the price I might just get one and change it anyway, supposed to be going away next week, id rather not have it fail and lock up when Im towing the caravan.

thankyou sir, will have a look and get one today.

Ahhh, the locking washer is different wondered why there were 2 differeing kits, unhelpfully changing in 96, will have to go check me chassis number then

personally id buy seperate timken bearings unless you can get a kit with them in ,rtc3429g and seal ftc4785 and lock washer ftc3179, i use silicone instead of gasket but is 571752

Lock washer with tab for early models, flat for later models

FTC5241 <
FTC3185 <

there the two different types i think. whatever one yours is being the later on.

doesnt the later models require a tabbed washer? and the earlier ones require the flat washer?
theres a thick flast washer that sits against outer bearing before nuts ,the numbers you gave relate to those ,there are 3 types tabbed early ,d type late 200 and 300 ,large diameter d type later , the lock washer between the 2 nuts you are right early tabbed, later d type ,just wrong numbers :)
