bit of an odd one really, a few months ago when I got the car I had an awful clunk:mad:, turns out the bolt that's horizontal was missing :eek: and the whole engine was knocking on the transmission tunnel...

now this sorted the main clunk but I still have a knock when driving, iv recently had it MOT'd and even guy picked up on it but couldn't find it.

now iv just done the timing belt and water pump and lo and behold the rubber engine mount thing seems loose, but I cant seem to tighten it all the way up, I can undo it (but havn't removed it) and have managed to "wedge it" for now which has helped but not 100% solved..

So my question is, how do the rubbers screw in, is there supposed to be a welded nut inside the "box section chassis" or is it a floating nut in some form of holder? I don't want to remove it and loose the nut inside.

any body else had this issues

p.s its a 2003 1.8

A picture of the offending part would help identify the problem and location ;)

well I assumed the mount would look like this

LAND ROVER FREELANDER 1 1.8P R/H ENGINE MOUNTING`01 ON | eBay

in the link posted above it seems to have two bolts (mine doesn't)

as for where its located its under the aluminium bracket (the mount) that fastens to the box secion of the car theres no access to it from sides or underneath

in this pic ( not mine) http://thumbs1.ebaystatic.com/d/l225/m/mlGBmyNvX-oZGrvZCn9LWwA.jpg

the bolt that was missing was the one in the centre...the mount im referring to sits in the hole to the right bottom..

So the hydromount is missing it's threaded section. That will require a new mount. I suspect someone has over tightened the nut that should retain the assembly.

this is what im trying to find out.....

from google mine looks to be the one with a the thread at each end..im trying to find out what it screws into as it seems to be hidden, its not the type that bolts ontop with two bolts as shown in freelaners original post

Mine is held with two bolts that fit into the box section/chassis rail over the wheelarch.

I'm assuming there are bolted into captive nuts but can't really tell.

hope this helps
