Well I have had a knocking on the front drivers-side for a few days, so decided to have a look. I had some play in the driveshaft from before, but didn't think anything of it, until I gave the drive shaft a wiggle! It's got loads of play now, about 5-10mm in all directions, so I took off the rubber boot on the engine side of the driveshaft, to find about 30-40 straight bearings, not the ball type, just fall out! It looks as tho there are 4 bearing carriers in there, so I'm guessing they are ****ed!

Now the question is, can these bearings be bought separate to the drive shaft? Or does it come as a kit?

inner joint and shaft come together, outer joint available separately. check out famous four website for an idea of prices etc.

Cheers mate, much appreciated.

You don't happen to know how long it should take to replace do you? And how hard it is?

easy job either undo bottom ball joint or top 2 hub/leg bolts and pull hub out enough to remove outer shaft then pull hard to remove complete shaft ,you can then pull outer gaiter back and whack outer cv off ,1 to 2 hours

That's good then. Do you need any tools out of the ordinary, Other than a ball-joint splitter?

dont use ball joint splitters ,bottom one has split in socket put small wedge /chisel to hold open ,nuts normally 22mm or 7/8 ,you dont need to but if you want to remove other ball joint like track rod hit socket that joint goes through hard it will release taper joint without damaging joint
