Hi guys.

More problems im afraid.

This morning my L322 decided to pass wind in my pressence.

It was gushing out air from the front right air spring. The air however seemed to be coming from "under" the airbag?

Here are some pics to show you what i mean.

Is the air spring nackered or is it something else like something has come un plugged? Fat chance i know but i know nothing about this. I always assumed the air would leak from the bottom of the bag where it joins the main stem/shock?

Does anyone know of any instances where the bags can leak but not from the rubber bag itself?

I would say it's knacked, only £350.00 for a new one happy days.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Well im expecting the worst lol.
Im just hoping someone on here might suggest some other cause? :(

Wammers, if it is screwed, do you have to replace both together to avoid future problems or not?

And £300 each inc VAT is the cheapest i've found so far. Still ouch though!

It would be best to change both then you have a few years service to look forwads to.

Yeah thats if the compressor or valve block doesn't go next! lol

I think she is going to have to go after i fix her up. I've just had enough now.

Valve blocks very seldom go knackered. Diaphragm valve maybe now and again. But a lot of balls is talked about valve blocks causing this and that.

Hi
When my air suspension went I automatically assumed it was the airbags so went out and brought 4 new airbags for about £400 for the 4 from beamach in Caerphilly fitted them myself and couldn't understand why I couldn't them to inflate! I then took the pipe from the block end and blew compressed air through the pipe the reason soon came to light as air started to **** out of the supply lines so what should have been a £30ish fix turned in to nearly £500 so check the air supply pipes first!! I take it you were quoted £400 per bag? If so give beamach a ring ( I think I Spelt the name right) hope you get it fixed ok
Regards
Dave
Sorry just noticed urs is l322 not p38 like mine!!

Hello mate. Sorry to hear to found out the expensive way! :(

You might be onto something. Even though im no expert on the matter, it does seem to me that somehting has come "un-done" rather than a leaky air bag.
I mean a leaky air bag wouldn't gush out air like a hair dryer would it. (?)

Also this has seemed to happen very soon after i hit a nasty pot hole. I only did a 5 minute drive from from hitting the pot hole untill i got home. Then the car just sat there untill the next morning. But i hit the bump on the passenger side so maybe not that now i think about it lol.

Does anyone know how and where to check the air lines? Any pics would be great guys.

I replaced the spring yesterday. Was easy enough to to bar a stubborn bolt that refused to come out! But hey, thats what big hammers are for right? ;)
All went fine. No errors came up on the dash. Doesn't seem to be sitting any different from before. Will probably get the suspension re-calibrated soon anyway just to be safe. Only costs about £55.
I now have a car again! :)

Unless the car is sitting at wrong height or lop sided your £55.00 will be wasted, no need to recallibrate anything. The airbag does not dictate where suspension sits, the sensors do that.

Hi Wammers. I decided not to bother getting it done now anyway as it seems to sit just as before which was fine but your post just makes more sense anyway.. Thanks.

Hi Land ho!, great to see you sorted it.

I too will have to replace my FR air spring. I heard the leak and thought i had a screw in the tyre, but when feeling for the screw i felt the wind on top of my hand. The leak is a small pin hole in the actual rubber, i'm guessing a stray stone has whacked it whist i was munching some mud and gravel.

I was hoping you could offer some instruction or advice before i mess anything up. Ideally an idiots guide but anything you can contibute will help. Will i need a computer plugged in to it at any time?

cheers

oops, sorry about the duplicate question. I'v just found another post with the information i need.

No worries mate. No. Nothing complicated at all. No computer is needed. It's only a mechanical part with a air line going to it. Thats all. It's the same routine as undoing a normal damper except you unscrew and rescrew a tiny yellow air line on the damper.
It helps to have a mate give a hand to locate the bolts through the top mount holes as can be a little tricky on your own.
The hole thing is just a bolt on, bolt off proceedure.
If you need details as to how what that is just ask.
