I think you might find that your original horn is switched on the negative side and not the positive side. Hence the short.

Yes the orgininal horn did earth through its body but the new horn has its own ground wire which I have just got locked under the nut and bolt holding it to the bracket (with a hook shaped connector ofcourse!). The new horn also works either way around, but this wont cause any problems will it.
The strange thing is that the fuse doesn't blow when blowing the horn. But only when flashing full beam. The spots still come on with normal full beam without blowing any fuses though (ie. not flashing it) which I can't understand!?

have you checked the wiring?
where did you take your spot light trigger from also?

I'm going to give the horn its own live feed in the morning. The spots have been working fine sinse I whacked the horn into its power supply! The switching feed for the spots is from the full beam wire to my driver side headlight.
