hi all i am going to remove the freewheeling hubs somtime soon as they are both smashed and gaffer taped up by previous owner .after readin a few postes it seems they are more trouble than they are worth was going to relpace them.but not now so the question is whats it going to cost .how big a job is it and what will i need. last best place to get the bits from cheers

2 x drive member ,hub caps ,bolts ,nuts washer and splint pins for half shafts parts depend on age/vehicle let us know and ill give you part nos prices etc

Shouldn't take long, depending on how cooperative the old hubs are, maybe 15 - 20 mins a side. It's worth checking to see if the wheel bearing play needs adjusting or the bearings/ seal need replacing while the drive member is off. Parts as above (you might be able to recycle the drive member to hub bolts) age isn't necessarily a good guide. Count the splines on the driveshaft, older ones are 10 spline, newer are 24. Total cost £30 to £40.

Mine left FWH is leaking oil from the selector...
Is that an easy fix? do you need photos or is this explanation enough?

It might depend on the type but the ones I used to have had an o-ring between the selector thingy and the outer cap. it was the type with the ring of screws around the outer cap, took the cap off, used an o-ring kit to replace. It still weeped, though.

Thank you..
I will take a picture of it and we can see what it is.
