The stop start on the FL2 seems to work ok. Don't have it on mine. Stop start FL2's have the stronger AGM type battery to cope with the more frequent starting. Auto disables if it detects there's not enough power for a restart.

Does anyone have any recommendations/ faults with the "Eco" Freelanders?

Is the stop start tech in them reliable?

Stop start is generally more expensive to maintain, compared to normal engine running. The reason is the battery costs almost twice as much, and obviously the starter will fail more quickly, simply because it starts the engine more times than a standard once per journey start.

You might find that after a couple of years, the stops start function stops working. This is due to the battery monitoring system deciding that the battery isn't strong enough to continually start the engine, so disabling the system. If this happens a new battery will be needed, and I'm sure the system needs resetting too. IMHO it's more trouble than it's worth, but it does make the emissions slightly lower, which reduces road tax a bit.
