Freelander Wont Start - wont turn over

hi guys my neighbour has problems with his freelander, i dont know what year or model it is but its an auto, all the electrics work and we tried jump leads but it wont even turn over, the only things we have tried is ensuring the gearstick was in park position properly and then disconnected and reconnected the battery.

where do we start is there a common problem with these vehicles or is an auto electrician or mechanic needed for this problem. i am good with cars but i dont know where to start with this thing esp when it could be an electical fault

Try disconnecting the starter moter lead and re attaching
