I recently bought my first Freelander and I have a new wing mirror to fit. How do I remove the panel on the inside of the car to access the bolts to remove the old wing mirror? Do I need a torque wrench to fit the new one. I have the non folding type.

Also the gear knob I have doesn't have the usual gear pattern on the top just a hole in the centre can someone tell me what is missing.

Thanks

Unclip interior panel and disconnect the two wires from the speaker and any wires to the wing mirror. Undo the retaining screws and remove the mirror from the outside and the clamp from the inside. Easy.

The gear pattern is missing from the top of the gear stick.

Thanks howardo,

I don't want to force the interior panel and break whatever clips hold it on, what's the best way to unclip it, does it simply push off one way?

My metal speaker covers fell out.
They should come out with the plastic frame intact though. There is a central serreated push-in clip and a hook inside of the door trim panel.

Thanks for the advice. The wing mirror is now in place and the speakers and electrics are working. I striped down the old mirror thinking I needed to use the inside connections which I didn't. The outside triangular panel had broken lugs when I removed it so I could have done with replacing it but a bit of super glue on them seems to have done the job. Thanks again.
