Freelander vibration and knocking.

This is my first Freelander and i got a few problems. Its a 98 plate 1.8 petrol.There is a vibation at slow speed when accelerating and when slowing it sounds like a faint metal to metal rubbing ??? Also if i pull away sharpish there is sometimes a clunk that sounds like at the rear. none of these are really bad but need to do a bit of towing so dont want it to break down on me. Got this freelander really cheap so prepared to put up with probs if too expensive and run into groun just dont want it breaking down whilst towing.Cheers for help in advance.

Check brake pads and shoes for the rubbing noise.
Check the front mounting on the rear diff. for the clunking.
