Freelander Variants

Good afternoon folks,

I got a freelander facelift a couple of weeks ago and starting to look at the list of things that need sorting - switches, bulbs, drums,discs ect

I have fallen short already

I have no idea what variant I have, I know its a 2005 facelift and a Td4, I have used a VIN calculator, but does not tell me the variant.

My options on ebay are :

314 [1998 - 2006] SUV
314 [1998 - 2006] SUV (Open)
359 [1998 - 2006] SUV (Open)
LN [1998 - 2006] SUV

Now when I use the dropdown on 314 SUV and 314 SUV (Open), the engines are petrols (and I have a dirty diesel) so it is not them.

When I select 359 [1998 - 2006] SUV (Open) I do get two diesel options, but there are two, a DI 4X4 and a TDI 4x4

However if I Select the LN there is just one option, a TD4 4x4

So it is a toss up between the LN TD4 4x4, and the 359 [1998 - 2006] SUV (Open) that also has a TD4 4x4. - I have no idea they both look the same to me

What is the difference between the two??

Any help or ideas would be appreciated..

The L359 is a Freelander 2, 2006 - 2014.
I should ignore the crappy ebay drop down your referencing. Your td4 is probably the BMW diesel engine, i.e. LN td4. LN is the chassic code for a freelander

Excellent, thanks for the confirmation, I think the bit that confused me was that it stated that the L359 was years 1998-2006 so thought it may have been a freelander 1.

But then checked the FL2 and it was in that list too :/

I was a bit worried I was ordering loads of parts for a car I didn't have.. Or come to fit them and find nothing fits!

The variants on eBay items are selected by the seller so there is absolutely no guarantee of accuracy in the listings - as you discovered with the mix up on Freelander 1 and 2.

Also brakes are the same on all engine variants just change on year (2001MY on was the change point )
