Just bought an August 2013 Freelander TD4, with only 38,000 miles and showing my ignorance took a printout of an article in the Autoexpress about improving the breathing by fitting a BMW breathing modification I find that the car has a Ford engine with a timing belt.
So as the car is 6 years old at what age does this cam belt need changing and what is the approximate cost at a garage please.

Timing belt water pump, idler, etc are every 10 years 150,000 miles but as you are a new owner, do as I did and have or change it so you are starting fresh, only fit gates belts kits, cost for parts and fitting should be no more than £350 also have all fluids changed, diff, gearbox, etc,

The cyclone breather won't fit or be needed for the FL2 2.2 diesel.

The engine is more PSA than Ford tbh. It's basically a PSA DW12, which is even built in the PSA engine plant in eastern France.

The belt is needs changing at 9 year 144 miles intervals for 2012 onwards models, IIRC.

and what is the approximate cost at a garage please
That depends on the type of garage you use.
