hi
can any one give advice on connecting 7 pin towing connection into our 2001 freelander (colour codes)
the towbar is second hand and we dont want to buy special plug if we dont have to
we will be towing caravan and obviously need indicaters etc working
thanks

I posted this on 1st June 2009, but quicker just to re-write it AGAIN for the members who don't know how to or can't be arsed to SEARCH. Maybe I should just repost it every 10 days or so:

Colour/Haynes/Function
Black/SW/Earth
Green&Red/GN-RO/LH Indicator
Yellow&Red/GE-RO/Fog light
Green&Violet/GE-PU/Brake light
Black&Red/SW-RO/LH Tail light
Red&Orange/RO-OR/RH Tail light
Green&White/GN-WS/RH Indicator

All terminate on a plug in connector in boot drivers side behind trim

If you do a search in the freelander section, against my user name, I did a much more explicit write up which told you which pins these went to in the 7 pin connector, it was about 18 months ago.

Good Luck

I understand your post.... however you can buy the socket, wiring and plug from a dealer for £30. Its then a 5 minute job to pull the wiring through, reseat new grommet and plug in.

The leads are even cheaper off ebay.... You need a white plug type.

Steve

I wasn't looking for this exactly but THANK YOU, by (re) posting this you have helped my son & I who, this afternoon, came across wires under the rear seat when we were looking for the fuel pump access lid. Our wiring looks really poor & the rusted disc under the seat ... poor little Landy needs a hug - & a LOT of expert attention!

Thanks again! Your posting has really helped us!
