Freelander TD4 - Slipping Clutch

Hello there, quite new to the Landy Zone and as a Freelander owner, hope you guys can help me with the following:

recently bought a Freelander ES TD4, black, a beauty, much better that the little MGF I had before this. Have had a little problem with the Turbo Hose, which made it blow out a lot of white, weird smelling smoke. this was easily fixed with replacing the hose with a new one. :cool:

Now i have the following problem, the clutch is slipping. this happens mostly when I'm in fourth with low revs and try to speed up, staying in fourth. :( Also i need to push down the clutch very deeply to have a full disconnect.

Now I'm terribly frightened this will be a thing which will break the bank, so I'm looking for some advice what it can be and how it can be solved, cheaply, please :).
 
I fink NI did a write-up somewhere on here - mite be worth doing a search - I fink he recommends the heavy duty clutch as well - if yu get probs - pm him. - Oh and pleeez change yo CP to show where yu hail from.
 
I know somebody who had a clutch done on a 1.8 Freelander, he took it to one of the fast fit clutch centres (Mr Clutch ?) or something like that, anyway it was done in a day for £350 all in. The stealers wanted £700.
 
Cool! many, many thanks! that's exactly what i've been quoted, 800 quids at a land rover dealer. they quoted this without even seeing the car - which i thought would be a bit strange as well. I'll give it a go at mr. Clutch and Clutchdust. don't mind taking it over there, for that kind of money.

BTW I saw some remarks about fitting a "Heavy Duty Clutch" instead of a normal one. Is that worth the extra effort in you opinion?
 
did the hole job in a weekend in a mate of a mates garage with a lift and some really nice tools i dont think you could do this job lying on your back,i did not rush with lots of tea and fag stops and a lot of time looking at the book.
the parts came in at clutch kit £127 flywheel £300 cyl/bearing £50 ird hose £8 ird gearbox diff oil and seals £28 i was going to replace the turbo as the ird was out but i got cleaned out with having to get the new flywheel however the vac hose was shot so when i put a new one on no more power loss runs like a dream.
the only thing i dont like is there is very little travel in the clutch pedal there must be a art in bleeding the clutch and i have not masterd it someone said jam the pedal down overnight with a stick and this will force any traped air out of the system but i dont fancy all that force on the preshure plate overnight has anyone tryd this???
