Freelander TD4 rattling noise

Hi there!

I have a 2004 model Freelander TD4 with 105,500 miles on the clock. Recently it started developing a rattling sound from the engine. At first it was only heard while revving, but now you can even hear it at idling speed and the sound increases even more when revving. There is no evident loss in engine power. I don't know whether this is a coincidence or not, but now when I switch on the a/c, its belt starts to squeal. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks! Dion

Hi sounds like you need a new crank pulley and ac tensioner. Check the state of the other tensioners/idlers while your there as you may as well replace them all with new belts as well while you're at it.
