Freelander TD4 EGR problem?

No need to remove the cover, you can see the filter from the drivers side wing just pull the pipe from the clips and replace filter which just hangs on the end of the pipe :)
 
Sorry Sean 421 for not responding, but have been abroad. Yes my sons Freelander is cured of this problem. It was the cheapest and quickest fix of something that had dragged on for 18 months. Fitting a new filter where the pipes had been incorrectly joined up by someone has sorted it. Its well worth changing this filter as your symptoms sound very similar. If you cant easily find it down the back on the left hand side of the engine then yours has probably also been sabotaged by some well meaning person who cant understand why the filter is open at one end.
