Freelander TD4 contaminated diesel-HELP!!!!

HI all,
I am new member, so if this post is not the correct place to enter pls let me know...
So I have 2004 freelander sport 2.0 diesel.
last week I put 50 euro of diesel in the car in the west of Ireland on my way back to Dublin, 5 mins after filling up the car died, lots of smoke and car jumping, loss of power and also high revs.
called AA and they could not see the issue so shipped to landrover garage.
The landrover garage have the car 1 week and can’t find the issue, have already changed high pressure pump and injectors and cleaned out the fuel, up to now this has cost me about 2,500 Euros...
They just can’t see what the problem is as the high pressure pump needs to be changed again, the pressure is dropping all the time.
What they tell me now is the fuel is contaminated and I have no come back on this....
they cant fix the issue they can’t tell me how this will cost and I just need some advice....

Firstly, I'm not familiar with diesels myself, but I'm sure one of the diesel boys will be along soon to offer some advice.

A couple of thoughts do strike me, though. Firstly, given the symptoms, I would have thought a dealer may have suspected contaminated fuel from the outset and flushed the system before fitting any new components. Sounds like you dealer did this the other way around and I'm guessing that is what may have damaged the new High Pressure pump (dragging contaminated fuel back in).

Also, just because it's a new part, that doesn't mean it wasn't deffective right out of the box. If they are insisting that you pay for yet another new part, could you get the previously fitted 'new' one back and have it independently examined?

All this aside, if someone sold you contaminated fuel, there must be some recourse back to them. I recall a couple of years ago when one of the big filling station chains here was selling tainted fuel and it wrecked loads of engines. In that case, the owners of affected cars were able to claim the cost of repairs back from the fuel supplier. Could you get a sample of the contaminated fuel and, again, commission a report on what's wrong with it? Armed with that, you shoudl be able to seek compensation from the filling station or whoever it was that supplied them with the duff fuel.

Sounds like a nightmare so, whatever happens, good luck.

I don't spose it was supermarket fuel you used was it?

I would suspect the turbo because of the smoke and high revs,but the DEALER should be able to tell if its a knackered turbo straight away.
