Freelander TD4 break lights perm on???

Hi there people
my TD4 (04 plate) has recently decided to develop a fault with its break lights or electrical circit! i have no idea how to resolve this problem or cannot understand as to why this fault has even developed and thought i would ask people for help before i have to take the garage route which i guess would be a little costly!
so hopefully you can help

I suggest you download the Rave (Q's and A's bit) and study the circuits.

it sound like the brake light swich. if you look at the brake pedel and follow up the arm you will see a swich. there very easy to change and cheap ( try Lucus) if it does not have a switch there then it has a pressure switch on the brake lines somwear.

try a bit of wd40 first

I had the same problem recently: all three light wore permanently on. Took brake switch apart and cleaned inside, use small nail polisher to polish contact pins, you will see some burned out a bit. Working like a new, but just to make sure I've got new replacement in few days time. There are two versions: old one square type (I think they use them in Discos as well) and new uprated, round version with additional electrical loom (I don't have this one).

Brake light switch..same thing happened to me on my Vauxhall SRi many moons ago
