Hi folks

What would seem to be a simple issue with my sons freelander - alternator failed, so I fitted a new one (that in itself was an epic worth of homer...). New alternator fitted and good voltage coming out of it (14.6v) but nothing getting through to battery? (12.4v). checked alt fuse (no 41) and wiring looks solid but cable from alternator disappears into a morass of wiring and pipes so cannot trace it and do not have a wiring diagram to find out where to goes.

Not being familiar with freelanders yet does this sound familiar to anyone? and anyone have answers or suggestions out there of what the problem might be?

cheers

chris

update
having spent a freezing evening crawling around the engine compartment I finally traced the problem. Cable running from starter to battery was fubar. Passed continuity test fine, but just wouldnt carry a load - strange. Replaced cable and all is good! apart from putting from doing the cable properly and putting everything back together of course :)
