Freelander starts ticks over but won't Rev???

Hi, Thinking buying an 05 Freelander 1-8 petrol, the car owner states that the car starts ticks over but won't Rev. Would this be a fuel pump problem?. If so would I be able to swap an X type Jaguars fuel pump, as they both seem to look similar, From the fuel tank.

Do any lights stay on on the dash after the self tests, such as the EML or HDC?

It could just be a broken throttle cable, or incorrect fuel pressure, or even an incorrectly timed cam.

Nothing for a Jag will fit a Freelander, as Ford supplied parts for Jag, and BMW supplied the components for LR of the Freelander's vintage.
