Freelander starter

After lots of issues with the starter on the freelander I've finally changed it. Now after fitting and trying to fire her up it only whirrs for as long as I hold the key.
Any ideas?

unfortunately I'm a top consultant when it comes to freelanders and I really think it's not well and needs scrapped!! I can arrange the destruction of it by driving over it in my disco!!

Tis funny how the rusty brigade always say the Freelander ain't a "proper off roader" - it may not be as good at some things off road, but it generally gets you there
