Right... I like the 18" alloys on the FL sport, but the tyres they come with are 235/50/18 which really does hinder choice of tyre.

The tyres I want come in 235/60/18 (closest match) and I calculate that means the speedo will be out by 4.75mph at 70 - that said, it could be adjusted anyway.

My question is... would they physically fit and what other advers effects to performance could there be? I guess i'd be increasing the ride height which would be no bad thing?

Bigger wheels = slower acceleration, faster top speed ;)
You might save a bit of fuel at motorway speeds. Given the price of rims, it might take a few motorway journeys before you make your money back, then there's the price of low pro tyres on 4wd, I wouldn't like to be footing the bill.

Wheel camber will be out as well

Hi Rob,
Been looking at the alloys and tire size thing from a different angle, I need to have chains on board for a ski drive trip to France in April.
Try running your hand around the top of the wheel (inside wall of tyre) past the steering arm and strut!
Mine are factory fit 225-55-17's and there's just not any clearance to the tyre wall (<10mm max).

Don't know if the offset on the 18's is more to give better clearance but check the clearance before you change the tyres.
You may find this little calculator link handy if you do decide change your tyre sizes from standard - Car Bibles : The Wheel and Tyre Bible Page 2 of 2 :bounce:
