freelander revs up and down

hi all,
i`m new on here and not very mechanically minded(not much going for me). this is my first LR and i like it a lot and want to keep it for sometime. i have a 55 plate freelander 1 diesel and this has started to happen when the engine is running the engine revs up and down on its own on tick over and when i am driving it feels as though the engine is being starved.it has had a new fuel injection pump and fuel filters recently. could anyone help me

sounds like it may be an air leak on the inlet side. have a look for split or cracked pipes that may be sucking air.

Is it a petrol?

Probably Head Gasket failure, I'm afraid. Have seen this symptom on few freelanders.

Burn it!!!

you cant half tell i`m new on this its diesel engine,i`ve already replaced the `s` shaped long hose on the intercooler, and a couple of months ago it had a new high pressure fuel injection pump and fuel filters put on.
