Not sure where this post fits, so I'll try it here first.
I have already posted my freelander 1 in the For Sale section. Its a non-runner due to the rear diff fault and I've found it hard to locate a recon diff.

Consequently, I'm trying to sell it as is. I've called dealerships and LR specialists, but as you can guess, its bottom dollar. I was hoping an enthusiast would take it off my hands, but no one has approached me yet.

I won't list all the details of the vehicle here, but I've spent upwards of £1300 since December 2009 and up till the fateful day that the rear diff failed me, the vehicle was a lovely runner. The body work is excellent for the year and when washed and waxed she looks very good.

She is too good to break, so I'm putting the feelers out asking if anyone is interested in buying her.

The MOT ran out in September, but she has tax until the end of this month.

The head gasket was changed in Aug'09, new clutch done Dec'09 and IRD in Jan '10. Electrics are OK, except for 1 slider on the sunroof.
She really is a good vehicle, but have neither the spare cash or time to get the rear diff fixed.

I am based in Bromsgrove, Worcs and the vehicle is stored in Rubery.
If you have any advice, are interested in viewing here or want to speak to me about her, please let me know.
She is listed in the For Sale section posted by me 'sawyerbeanz'.

Thanks for reading.

you would be lucky to get £950 for a runner with a full mot:rolleyes:, i would get back onto the garage owner and see what you can get. whoever buys it will struggle to get a rear diff (if thats all thats wrong with it and it aint done the vcu or ird) the engines are ****e anyway and it ain't mot'd:doh:. you really don't want to try selling it on an enthusiast's site m8. get it on e bay with a listing that finished after closing time on a saturday night, go for the ****head bids:D

Thanks for the advice gegs88. Not being a Freelander enthusiast (never really was!), I think your what your saying is thats its worth jack-s**t.

My issue is that I have spent hundreds getting it running and now its broke again.

I'm no mechanic either so its fine telling me I shouldn't have bought one in the first place; it doesn't really help, but fair comment.

I can't break it, its too good for that. Ebay listings that finish after pub closing time is not an option either. I doubt they would turn up anyway.

Being an LR enthusiasts site, I was hoping there would be some constructive help.

With the diff going, is there a chance that it was caused by the IRD unit failing or the VCU failing?

I keep my fingers crossed and thanks for the comments so far.

Further posts welcome. :welcome2:

and where did i tell you that you shouldn't have bought it? it's your money and i don't give a fook how you spend it.
what you need to ask yourself is why did the diff go in the first place.
no one is going to buy a freelander with no mot and a knackered drivetrain. sad but true.
the lads with freelanders on here are enthusiasts buit unfortunately also know the problems with the freelander engines and drivetrain issues the same as with any other potential buyer with access to the internet. most people buying will be on sites like this looking for tips and buying guides so they don't buy a lemon.
sorry to be the bearer of bad news but.....

True. You didn't say I shouldn't have bought it. I've been saying that to meself since it all started going wrong and it's also got to my nerves.
I've decided to keep chickens in it.
