Need some comments from you. I have a Land Rover Freelander td4 with the BMW engine in it. I bought the vehicle, and the previous owner made me aware of a oil leak (Sump suspected). I drove the vehicle for more than 1000 km with no problems at all. I then decided to take it to a company which has a branch in Boschkop, Pretoria and Cape Town in South Africa on 13/12/2012, to sort out the oil leak for me and replace fuel and oil filters. They told me the oil leak was not on the sump, so they replaced an o-ring on the crank sensor and on the front cover. Got it back and EML came on with loss of power. I also found that they charged me double for oil filter, diesel filter and oil. They had to refund me for that. Cost ZAR 3082.52. After trouble shooting without finding the problem, I took it back on 24/01/2013 as it was still leaking oil and EML remained on with loss of power. They replaced low pressure fuel pump and Pressure switch with no avail and then put old parts back. Then they replaced an injector with a recon, fuel rail sensor harness (told me the original did not go to ECU, but was tucked into the harness), and fixed oil leak. They removed and replaced the crank sensor. They reset fault codes. Cost ZAR 5926.45. On my way home, same problem came up. EML came on and loss of power. Took it back the next day 25/01/2013 and they replaced another injector. Interestingly they told me that both injectors had a leak back, but they tested if with the engine running instead of with the engine just cranking. Seemed to be ok after that. I went on vacation and the engine died on me in the bundus on 01/02/2013. Had to tow it in. EML on, cranks but does not start. They towed it back in on 04/02/2013. Cost ZAR 784.32. Insisted that a senior mechanic works on the vehicle. Told me it was HP fuel pump, which packed up due to too low pressure from LP fuel pump. Replaced HP fuel pump with a recon and installed new LP fuel pump. Cost ZAR 11958.60. Total cost ZAR 24,401.89. They reset all fault codes and it now seems to be going fine, but I don’t know for how long. Have I been ripped off here ?.

Welcome

Doesn't sound like you`ve been ripped off.
Sounds more like you gave your vehicle to a garage that didn't have experience of dealing with the Freelander.
Better to find a good independent on a recommendation

Just worked out the bill in GBP £1730

well, sounds like your purchase was not researched, but only purchased coz it looked nice "at the time"

Landrover should be held accountable fer making "some" of its gaylanders
(freelanders) as it was aimed at the landrover market where girlies think nice an easy to drive landrovers are better them mens landrovers.
But, you are not along my friend, as a neighbour of mine has not one headache, but two gaylanders.

I guess he thinks if one dont start, the other may!!!!
