Freelander Parcel Shelf 3 door Fittings

Hello everybody!

I'm looking for the fittings for the parcel shelf 3 door Freelander.

Where could i get this fitting kit(brackets+bolts) from?

The first place is the dealer, as you need to know the part numbers.
Get a price from them and if it's too high try online and email various companies, and/or use their websites by searching for the part numbers you need.

I have called several dealers and garages, but this fitting kit is not available.
Im wondering if i could make my own kit to fit the parcel shelf...Any idea?

It seems to be very hard to find this fitting kit. HELP.

I recently fitted a parcel shelf to my landy ( 3 door td4) The reason you are finding problems is that this was never a land rover part, sound stupid but they never designed one.

So the part you need will probably only be available from a specialist or you would have to build them, i got the whole kit off ebay and thats probably your best bet

we managed to get ours from the land rover parts at wolverhampton. they are as rare as rocking horse crap though. they might be able to source one.

Does anyone has an advise how could be replaced this fitting kit with anything that holds the the parcelshelf?

Im still looking for an alternative.

When I had my 3 door Freelander back in 2001, I bought a parcel shelf secondhand and it did not come with the fittings.

I made up brackets to mount it - all you need it a flat steel plate, drill a couple of mounting holes then using a cut strip of steel, bend this into a U shape, lay it onto the flat plate and weld it in place, paint to match the colour of your trim then fix to the trim with self tappers.

Sorry guys but no can do on the photos, this was many years ago - I haven't had that Freelander since 2003.

We are already 2 of us who need photos of after market/self made fittings for the parcel shelf!

Come on guys! Some one with any ideas and photos?

Well spotted ! my shelf has 2 straps to hold it up when in the boot but no where to fasten them to, any Ideas please? I guess some sort of hooks on the roof of the hard top?

Same on mine, no hooks on hardtop mind, how about the softtop frame? I've got one but haven't fitted it yet so cant say for sure?

Another question about the shelf, mines got a fitting in the middle the same as the floor safe but no key when you lift the cover, what was it for??? To lock the shelf down so you cant lift it???? would need a key and bars fitting if that's correct.

My 1999 Freelander 3 door has the solid type parcel shelf, the rubber straps are attached like this;




I think the dummy lock is to give the impression of a secure load space when the roof is off/down. Apologies if the pictures are a bit big, I've yet to learn how to resize them.

O I forgot about them little things, OK so you can attach it so it lifts a little, Why!? But nothing to keep it up!!
