Hi
I have a Freelander 54 plate diesel.
It loses power when going up hills and will only start if I spray easy start into the egr valve.
Once started it carries on running fine.
The fuel pump was making a buzzing noise so i changed it for a new one which also makes a buzzing noise and hasn’t fixed other problems.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks

Sounds like a fuel pump issue to me. The low pressure pump should be silent. I've come across noisy pumps before. Some old and worn and some new from eBay. If the pump is noisy, then it ain't no good.

You could also have a failed high pressure fuel pump regulator O ring or a leaking injector, both of which I'll give poor starting.

The rail sensor can also corrode giving bad starting.

You need to run a diagnostic and take some live data readings. The low pressure fuel rail should show more than 300Kpa, preferably 350Kpa.
The high pressure fuel rail should show over 25,000Kpa at idle and up to 135,000Kpa flat out.

Ive also took the pipe of fuel pump and turned over engine and there is plenty of fuel being pumped out with plenty of pressure

You need to run a diagnostic. You can't tell the difference between a bad pump and good pump, simply by seeing how much fuel is pumped. The low pressure fuel rail should be at over 300Kpa, which is enough pressure to spray the fuel across the street. ;)

The clue is the noise as there shouldn't more than a slight hum from the pump.
