Freelander Nicknames?

Just wandering why the Freelander has so many nicknames and the reasoning behind it?

Gaylander
Hippo
Freebie
Freeloader

I guess the first 2 are due to the reliability and image with other Land Rover drivers?

a few other names for other landys I'm aware of;

defender - deepender, biscuit tin, tratter.
disco 1,2 - rot box, murders wagon.
P38 - utter crap
evoque - ewok

its called a hippo coz it looks abit like one.


its somes time referred to as a gaylander because they make you so happy (gay) when you drive them.

Freebie is a shortened endearing name derived from freelander

there are a few choice words that my freelander get called every other day.

unfortunately, the profanity filter will be overloaded if I type them.

Wife calls mine ours.

"Whats up with it now"

mine is usually called broken

its been called a few choice names again today, trying to get the starter motor off gggrrrr
