I've just purchased a Freelander V6 fitted with LPG and I'm intending fitting a tow bar. The 70ltr tank is installed(squeezed in) under the boot floor and I'm afraid it might be a problem fitting a tow bar: Except, I've seen two different types of tow bar illustrated for the Freelander.

One is the type that LR supply themselves which has vertical hangers, a joining bar and a 8-10" extension out to the flange.

For those with good spatial awareness this forms a T shape when seen from above. This, I suspect, would not fit in with the tank because it(the tank) sits directly below the hangers.

The other type I've seen has hangers that, instead of hanging vertically, angle towards the rear of the vehicle, are joined by the cross member that has a small extension flange in the middle to carry the tow ball.

The whole arrangement is like a flat U where the tank fits in the cup, so to speak. This would almost certainly clear the tank.

Does anybody know anything about these bars and can advise?

Plan B is to fiddle and push and shove the tank around until it all fits.
