Hi All
I 'got IRD troubles on my early Freelander1 1.8 petrol (manual)- ..........well it had to happen eventually?!!

The old girl decided to deposit her gear box oil on the car park at work - the primary seals in the IRD appear to be to blame - confirmed - by visual inspection - IRD is on my bench!

My question is where can I source new seals??

I've tried my local friendly independent (thanks for trying Haydn)...He's tried JV like-LR dealer in Brecon - the trouble is the said seals are not listed as available separately on the L/R stock system - I have tried flea-bay - And have seen some rebuild-sets including bearings...but I only need the seals

Any ideas gratefully received...

Many thanks

before you all rush on to ebay to buy one of these kits , try pricing it up at yer local bearing supplier. i reckon that lot would cost you well less than a 100 notes

Hi...just a follow up on the IRD seals -..had no reply to ebay suggestion(but thanks all the same) - Ashcroft Transmissions came up trumps!! :D

They were very helpful...highly recommended!!

Just gotta finish the job now, this weekend!!

Many thanks.

Hi 3Landers,

i am currently having the same problem as you had with your freelander. My freelander 1 ird needs new oil seals. I only need the 4 primary oil seals. the dealers says it is not a serviceable part and i cant get the seal sizes anywhere. Do you maybe still have numbers of the seals that you got to redo your ird? it would be much appreciated.

Regards
Wilco

Part number on old seal perhaps or digital calipers and measure the components

some times when the seals are leaking it will be because of worn bearings and or planetary shims.have this problem also waiting for my parts to arrive
