freelander electrical fault

My freelander 1.8 2001 petrol has some major problems. its in my local garage with a poss head gasket failer + 24 fault codes now the garage is saying this is why its running so poorley not the HG problem. for the last 12 months the engine management light comes on with a missfire on cylinder 3 then will drive for 500 miles with no problems over the last 2 months it comes on when i stop at traffic lights thens ist ok again this happens more frequently when its raining the green down hill light is also on for the first few miles of my journey. its had new plugs new leads both coil packs replaced its now going to auto electricain to find whats up. any idea what the problem could be:confused:

Most likely it's got Gaylanderitis, they all get it sooner or later. You'll need either a fat cheque book or lots of spending power on your credit card, or both.

f*cked coil packs or and damaged ht leads! had exactly the same problem, coil pack on cylinder 3. if you can get a code reader clear codes. if it show missfire on 3 again clear codes swap coil pack with cyl 1 and try again. if it shows cly 1 thats ya problem. i replaced all packs and leads and no problem. Sprayed the lot with wd40 prior to refitting. good luck
 
ps just read your post again, whoops you replaced the packs, like i said i replaced mine but gave them good spray wth WD 40 just to make sure. hiccups for about 30 miles and no problems since.
