Hi, any body had a problem simular to this...
When i press the key fob to unlock the door the drivers door doesn't unlock, the solinoid sounds likes its trying but nothing, press it again and the other doors work fine. Also it happily locks. i can unlock the door with the key, just kind of annoying. took the door card off but its hidden well out the way, thinking of taking it to a garage but just wondered if anyne has any easy fix befor i do?

Thanks , chris

I also have this exact problem. Would be interesting to see what the problem is. I am getting tired of having to unlock the drivers side manually now.

When I press the remote once my driver's door (LHD) doesn't open 99% of the time (knob comes out only halfway), only 1% it works correctly. When I press a second time (to open the remaining doors) my driver's door also opens correctly.

I see it as a security feature on mine.I've had the lock mechanism out a few times, opened it up but never could fix it.
I've not had to do any work on my heap in months,so I'm expecting something to go balls up any day now. What a heap of ****e.

i have the same problem with mine, been like it since i bought it but not bothered to look at fixing it yet. i should do though as wifey has a massive chain on her keys and everytime she unlocks the door i hear the chain whack against the side of the door :faint2:

You should advise her to remove some of the weight from her set of keys. Heavy key sets will damage the ignition barrel over a period of time as they swing around while driving. I'm guessing that can be a pain to fix.

it's an internal fault on the door lock mechanism. theres a thread on here from a couple of years ago. easiest way to sort it is to watch e bay and get the full door lock assy , the complete unit. i had the same problem and swapping it cured it straight away.

Hi all, I'm afraid its new door lock time! Had same problem, tried to fix lock but found that it can only be partly dismantled. I suspect the problem is with the unlock motor which is under the white plastic part of the lock holding the electrics, which you cannot get at without destroying the lock. New locks are about £70 from dealers. Tricky to fit if you have not done it before. The bolt for the outer door handle needs a small socket with extension to remove. Instructions say remove pop rivets to remove inner handle but you can remove the cable from the lock end. All a bit fiddly. Less than an hours job for someone who had done it before. Took me over three hours! Haynes gives a good description. Hope this helps, regards, Eric.

Nice one, thanks everyone for the advice. looks like the lock mech is nakered. which leads me to the next question... i've found one in a scrap yard but its a V plate 3 door. Mines a 03 plate 5 door? any body know if the lock mech is the same through out?
