Freelander. Dash warnings

Freelander Td4 Auto 2004 (facelift) 100K

Started this morning, HDC fault light (orange) on, gear indicator flashing alternately "4" & "F" regardless of position selected. Off & restart, no change. Gears seem to work so set off. Selected Sport t then Command Shift, then returned to D, gear indicator now working correctly. Selected HDC, nothing. After a mile had opportunity to stop & restart again, all fine, HDC works.
Any thoughts (do not bother suggesting matches) was it just a one off glitch as I should expect with a Freelander, or is it a warning of problems to come?

Thanks, only had one of the symptoms, and that's disapeared, so I'll keep my fingers crossed. Gives me an idea what to look out for though, doesn't look too difficult.
