Please can someone help me?! I have had my freelander Td4 04 at several garages all unable to fix the problem. So here goes........
Started cutting out at random times going over 60 mph..... revs would start to drop, no acceleration, dip clutch and then engine would stop. This then got worse after a good 10 miles running fine, it then cut out at 30. It's not rev or strain related.
Every garage keeps putting on new fuel.pumps, which keep burning or after a few miles. Have had uprated fuel rail pressure sensor wiring loom fitted as a specialist said my problems linked back to this. But it hasn't worked. Has several fuel pressure tests with no results. Is it worth changing the sensor?

have a leak back test done on the injectors, also have the regulator O-rings checked on the HPFP high pressure fuel pump, as it been on a T4 or Hawkeye to be diagnosed / if not that maybe would be a good idea too, how far from Onley Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire are you as I might know someone whom could help ?

You say the new fuel pumps keep "burning or (out?) after as few miles". If that is the case why do they/you still persist in changing the pump - presumably if that is the case there is something else wrong that is burning out the pumps. If the garages are thinking it is because the pressure sensor thinks there is insufficient pressure so its running the pump to long and its burning out - hence change the pressure sensor - it won't be the one on the fuel rail because thats checking hiogh pressure fuel prom the high pressure pump connected to the engine. If it is a sensor, it will be the low pressure sensor where ever that is (presumably in the high pressure pump to make sure its fed properly).

Are you sure these pumps are burning out? I doubt it. I would think your problem is likely to be the loom as described or the O ring as suggested.
 
If you are burning the pumps out they are over speeding with either to much power feed and might cause the fuel to air rate. You could push too much fuel.
The other possibility is theres a blockage forcing the pumps to work to hard in pushing the fuel creating a blockage. Have the garage done a gravity feed test to the engine to see if the problem arise.

Teddy wood1 - Yes filter also changed.

GrumpyGel - Pumps kept getting changed so there was one working, and it's been at several garages who all think they have fixed it by changing it! Even though I explained that is not the main issue! Also, I have had the uprated wiring loom fitted, with no luck and also the o rings have been check and are fine.

Saxavordian - Waiting to hear back as to whether gravity feed test has been done.

Madmustang - Being thick... Is that the fault code when it's plugged in? If so I'm pretty sure it's something like rail pressure sensor (been a while since i asked) Also waiting back to confirm what it is.

It's currently with a friend who is a little stuck ( I'm no mechanic) passing all this info on to him. Thank you, I really appreciate all your help. It's been a very long tunnel so far, is there even any light at the end? I'm starting to wonder.
