Bought myself a freelander 2 at Christmas. It has a few miles on it so I sent it in for a full service. After the service I felt a vibrating when driving. Thought it might be tracking or balance so got that done with 4 new tyres on and still the vibrating is there. Guy in the tyre place said it could be a transmission problem. So has anyone on here had or heard of this problem. It's a 2.2 td4 2007

Manual/ auto? They can vibrate on front driveshaft
Manual. I had a 2003 td4 manual before this one that needed a front driveshaft replaced but the vibration was 100 times worse than the new one. This time the vibration feels like a unbalanced wheel or something but the wheels are fine.

Hi give me a call, see if i can diagnose for you.

A couple of years ago I had a problem with wheels not being properly balanced by KwikFit. (First set of new tyres) Because the wheels were alloys and cannot have weights hammered on the outside edge they changed the setting on the wheel balancer to balance only on the inside edge. This was a lazy stupid option because they could have used stick on weights on the wheel but couldn't be bothered. I took it to three different kwikfits to get the issue sorted before they balanced the wheel properly.
Not saying your tyre guys are as stupid and lazy as kwik fit but thought it was worth suggesting.
BTW it was a company car and the contract is with kwikfit.

Funny you say that coz it was kwik fit that done my tyres

Take a look at the wheels, if there are no stick on weights on them then bring the car back and ask them to rebalance them. Make sure you watch what is happening as the machine should show weights to be fitted to both sides of the wheel. If they pushed a button to try and balance them from the inside only like they did on mine then pull them up on it and ask them to use the stick on weights.
I just remembered on another occasion a kwikfit operator tried to tell me my wheel was buckled because it wouldn't balance properly. When I asked him to set the machine up to balance both sides he said he couldn't because he couldn't hammer on weights on the outside edge. When I suggested he use the stick on weights he muttered something under his breath and did it. Only I was watching him the whole time I would have had a badly balanced wheel.
I hate kwikfit and would never use them for my own car as most of the guys are complete cowboys.
