Freelander 2 sun roof not resetting

After installing a new battery on my 08 Frrelander, it appears that the sun roof does't work correctly. I had followed the reset proceedure by holding the button down for 20 seconds etc, but it stiil will not work correctly. 1) to open the roof fully I have to press the button twice and hold it to fully retract and the same again in closing then press the a bit at a time to fully close, 2) The Tilt operation does not work at all.
Any advise please.

Did it work before the battery was replaced?

I use my Gap Diagnostics IID to calibrate mine, but the owners manual method should also work, but only if the sunroof is actually working correctly.

ours didn't initially work when we got the vehicle. i had to pull the fuse and set again, this didnt fully work either with a whistle when shut (interior fans up full tilt) and getting it shut was an effort as i assume the safety feature was kicking in just as it was closing. I reset with my foxwell when i got it, and the one touch now works as it should, but i still get the whistle, so a second or third momentary press is required.
Reading the user manual carefully - as i did several times trying to figure this out, it reads that it only needs reset if power was lost when the roof was open - so one thing i never tried was to open the roof, then pull the fuse for it to forget , and reset from an open position.
