Dear Landrover lovers we have done a full service on rear differential on our Freelander 2 (2007). We had 4 bearings (both bearings for tires , one bearing for Haldex and central bearing) and seals replaced and oil and filters changed (both in Haldex and in differential). There is no noise involved now but our car makes crackling sound (like we are squashing a plastic bottle) when we`re making full right or full left turn (90 degrees). The crackling stops once we are going straight again. Did any of you had similar or the same problem and how did you fix it?

All the help is appreciated!

Cheers

Get someone to drive it in tight circles slowly while you stand outside the car, inside the circle. Are the tyres skidding? Try in on a hard surface like tarmac and soft surface like grass. Is the crackling the sound of the tyres skidding for some reason? Does the crackling still happen during tight turns on grass?

I have an update about my case: The service technician apparently poured the same type of oil both in differential and Haldex and that clogged up the Haldex valves. Once those were changed with a set of new ones, the haldex started to sing and now everything is sweet!!! Who would have thought that an experienced technician will make such a mistake. Anyway, if anybody gets thees kind of problems, check the Haldex valves and double check the oil type that is being pured into differential and Haldex. There is a reason they are sold separately, since they don't share the same composition and purpose!

Enjoy your Landrovers and make them happy ;)

Sounds like he didn't know what he was doing. I would check the haldex has been filled using the correct method.
