Freelander 2 making overworking noise from engine

Hi, I'm wondering if any of you can help me. I have a 57 plate freelander 2 TD4. I had my front wheels replaced last week and drove it to Monaco. When I arrived there I noticed a noise from the engine which sounded like the it was over working. It sounds like when a car is reversing. The noise becomes louder when steering. And I've had a few times when the power steering doesn't seem to like it when I steer at low speed. I'm worried that I have over worked the traction control. Has any body had this problem before?
