Experienced Freelander 2 owners change their haldex oil every 20,000 miles. They change the haldex filter every 40,000 miles.

This is not listed on the land rover service sheet but still needs doing to keep your haldex in good working order.

It will help to reduce the chance of the haldex failing. If the filter blocks it will put the haldex pump under more pressure which increases the chance of haldex failure.

Video below shows the process to change the haldex oil and filter, and set the haldex oil level correctly. Make sure you use the correct oil.

Hello.
Noted that this may be an old thread. Experienced transmission fault intermittent after wash in service station when I had it flushed under the chassis. Serviced the Haldex, but still appears on moist days, first run especially. The mechanic confirmed my suspicion that it could be trapped moist in the sensor/contact. Any similar symptoms? FL 2 diesel 150 HP, manual gearbox. 2010 mod.

Remove the fuse in the fuse box to stop the haldex from being activated and dry out the electrical connection. Put said fuse back once dry and see if the problem continues.
