Help!!! I have a 2007 diesel Freelander 2 which I brought in September from a Landrover dealer and last week the car went bang. As we were given a warranty we rang them up and they sent out an AA man who inspected the car and thought it was the clutch. He arranged for a courtesy car and the car was recovered to a local Landrover dealer. They discovered that the gearbox had gone and put in a claim to the warranty company (who aren't Landrover) and the assessor came out and rejected the claim as he said that the gearbox was leaking oil and this was why it had gone. The car was serviced in september before we purchased it and there has been no oil on my driveway - does anyone know if a light would have come up on the dashboard if it was low on oil or the engine management light? Any advice on this would be great as I am about to get a £4k bill!

hmm sounds like they might be trying to get out of it, september is a long time ago.Did yo7u have any other symptoms before it went?

is the evidence from leaking oil from the gearbox going bang, if you have no oil stains on the drive then it wasn't leaking before the problem.
