freelander 2 ed4 2011 help please

went for a test drive today in a freelander 2 ed4 2011, it was in reduced power mode and the dealer said it was because it was low on diesel, is this true? please help. thanks

No, it probably has a blocked or partially blocked dpf filter,

Yes. Walk away unless the vehicle is fixed to the required standard.
There are plenty of FL2s for sale and prices are dropping, due to the anti diesel brigade making waves.

supposed to be picking it on Thusday, its going in for MOT, will that pick up the fault?

Probably not picked up in an MOT as MOTs are for vehicle road worthiness. There's obviously something wrong with it, so it's sensible to make sure it's sorted before you buy, or walk away. If you buy with an exciting fault, you are basically accepting it and the whatever remedial cost is.
