Hi everyone,
I purchased a new Freelander 2 in March 2009 from an authorized dealer. After approx 6 months I heard a sound (later to be found that it was a driveshaft fault) and reported it to the dealer who replaced the entire drive shaft and informed me that it was a faulty batch.
It lasted 3 months & the sound came back, again it was replaced & to cut a very long story short I have had the car in the garage getting repaired for the same issue 6 times in total with works ranging from Hub Changes to lock tight!
Land Rover advised the dealer time after time on how to proceed and the dealer complied.
Now the sound is back once more and according to the dealer Land Rover acknowledge that it is a design fault but cannot do anything to fix it.
Land Rover have offered to provide me with written confirmation that the issue is unfixable but will not cause the vehicle to breakdown. As you can imagine having a drive shaft issue that has been fixed 6 times since I purchased the car new is bad enough, but the letter seems to be just a cheap excuse and a way of fobbing me off.
The dealer is trying to offer me a part exchange but the deal is not in my favor,
now my question is that under these circumstances where Land Rover have admitted a design error should they be obligied to compensate me or not and where do I stand with the dealer, should I go direct to Land Rover?
Any help would be much appreciated!
Many thanks
