Hi All, I wonder if anyone could give me some advice. As of last week my 2014 Freelander 2 has developed a problem with the Central Locking. When i am driving along it continuously opens and shuts. It is worse if i go over a bump in the road and its just driving me nuts! I just wondered if anyone else had come across this issue or had any idea what it may be. Any advice would be very much appreciated
Thanks Peter

Sounds like something is loose like a wire if it's triggering when going over bumps. If it's 2014 it should still have LR warranty. If so let the main dealer fix it.

Many thanks Hippo - sadly it is now 3 weeks out of its warranty, My last encounter with my local dealer cost me an arm and a leg as the fault was not covered under the warranty. I will maybe ask my local garage. Thanks again Peter

Take it back to LR. Presumably it's still under warranty.

Phone LR customer services. 3 weeks out of warranty is nothing. You have rights so use them.;)

If yer bought it new or used from a LR main dealer, had it serviced by them regular, had several LR's over the years... all or some of these options... will give yer a betterer chance of LR assisting with the whole or some of the cost of repair, even when out of warranty, if they see evidence of your continuing custom. Repair would have to be done at a main dealer. If yer haven't done any of the above then yer chances are reduced. As said it's worth a go.

Yer FL2 has drive away locking, which locks the doors when yer drive away. It can be enabled/disables in the vehicle set-up menu in the dash using the buttons on the rhs of the steering wheel. I'm wondering if for some reason it's trying to lock itself as it thinks it's not locked, when driving. That doesn't account for bumps setting it oft but yer never know. When yer drive away and it locks, press the unlock button below the radio screen (to unlock it) to see if this stops the random locking. Pressing the unlock button under these circumstances will stop it locking again while yer moving. Or yer could try disabling drive away locking in the dash menu to see if that make a difference. None of this guarantee's a solution, but it may help to break down the problem.

Hi Lord Hippo, Many thanks for all the advice. I did as you suggested and disabled the drive away locking and it has stopped constantly clicking on and off. It was driving me insane! The FL2 has a full Land Rover service history so i wrote to my dealer this morning, i know them well as this is my 6th car from them and await a reply as to whether they will look at this foc as a loyal customer with a car just 3 weeks out of warranty.
Thanks again, the temporary solution has restored my sanity and i dont have to drive along listening to the doors opening and shutting every 30 seconds.
All the best Peter
