Freelander 2 advice

Hi all,

So after a few years of having an audi ill be back to the dark side very soon. I will be hopefully getting a Freelander 2 HSE.

What's it like to use as a daily commute? I am more bothered I get one and it costs me a fortune to run. I know the tax is more but whats it generally like on fuel?

33-38mpg, depends on you right foot

That would depend on what year and auto or manual

I am looking at 2010/11 Auto Diesel HSE. I am a fairly conservative driver (always have my 2 young kids with me).

That model is certainly one of the most expensive to run.
If you're looking for running value, try a different model

Sorry year. 2011 is better than 2010

I am running a 08 SE Auto as a daily commute - doing about 60 miles each way mixed motorway a roads - I get about 550 miles from a tank.

Are the 2011 onwards auto's cheaper to run than the 2010 and before?
Whats the SD4 like in comparison to the Td4 auto 2011 onwards, on running cost?

According to the blurb.
Tax is cheaper and 6mpg more "claimed"
Can't comment on SD4 comparison

My sd4 was more economical than the td4 it replaced, both six spread autos, td4 was 160, but sd4 was quicker, a brilliant engine for the vehicle , lack of finesse in the trans scared me tho, it had to go.
On topic sd4 once run in was never below 37 mpg

Is the lack of finesse on all sd4 auto's or just the early one's? Does it effect all or just some? I would have hoped the sd4's in the last 2 years of production for example were all ok and any problems found within the life of the FL2 were by then fixed/resolved. The price new would make me think they were good quality vehicles.

Had a new box in the td4, check out q102 for symptoms , heavily subsidised by Land Rover who then got me in an sd4 cheaply, but the box was never smooth and Land Rover could never find anything wrong on diagnostics, so it went a month before warranty expired, td4 box went a month after warranty expired, wasn't in the mood to get caught again!
