Hi, we're looking at getting a '54 plate 2.5 V6 HSE and converting to LPG. I've already read a lot about the concerns over LPG and th 1.8 engine, but what about the 2.5?

Also, are there any other concerns that I should know about?

The car has done 38,000 miles and has a full Land Rover service history.

no no no no no no no!!!!!!!!
the kv6 is even more prone to hgf than the 1.8!
don't do it - pleeese.
trust me - I know from experience.

well, that's one fer my sig!

he he

Hi, I'm not really sure where this is getting me. I'm guessing hgf means head gasket failure, but can you explain why the 2.5v6 is prone to this?

Also, why are one of you saying you are being biased? Have you had a hgf on a 2.5v6 that has been LPG'ed?

yes - well not LPG'd but LPG makes em run hotter - so, i wud imagine MORE prone to HGF. and loadsa garidgiz are saying they wont repair em now.

as fur why it is prone - i suggest you do a search on here..
V6 transverse mounted - rear bank runs hotter - crap cooling system etc etc etc.

both me and Daft (aka MHM) have had kv6 gaylanders that suffered hgf.
in fact mine failed twice.
if it fails, you could be looking at £4k plus for a new injun.
all k series are prone to hgf due to overheating due to a crap design cooling system. the v6 is even more prone due to lack of air flow round the rear bank of cylinders.
lpg will make the injun run hotter than petrol, so in our opinion would make hgf even more likely.

some gaylander enthusiasts say we're biased, but we speak from experience.
